The arts are often solely used in organizing as an add-on, reducing it signs at events. Relationship building is a key component of effective base building and requires having a grounded understanding of how people interact within a community. Many social movements and organizing groups have utilized art to communicate principles of the fights being waged and as a means of connecting with people and motivating them to join the struggle. Arts and culture are incredibly helpful in informing an organizing strategy that is relevant, creative and accountable to the people who are most impacted by the issue. In this workshop, we will discuss how to infuse arts and culture directly into developing strategies, conducting political education and building our organizations.
