In direct response to the rise of dangerous anti-immigrant policies and rhetoric, cities across the country began enacting Sanctuary Cities measures. While sanctuary ordinances like Illinois’ Senate Bill 31 for Chicago seek to limit local police departments’ collaboration with federal immigration authorities, immigrant communities, Black communities, and young people are still under attack. Join us for a deeper conversation on what real and expansive sanctuary is and looks like and dive into the strategies Chicago organizers are deploying to build intersectional struggles to dismantle ICE and defund police. Sanctuary must be for all of us in order to be real.
