Alexis McKenneyCommunications Associate
Alexis McKenney joined Advancement Project’s national office in 2018 as Communications Associate. She works with the organization’s multiple programs to provide strategic communications support to uplift the work of grassroots organizations committed to racial justice. Prior to joining Advancement Project, Alexis was a student organizer at Howard University and one of the founding members of HU Resist, an organization grounded in anti-gentrification efforts, community outreach and political education which led the nine-day occupy protest at Howard University in 2018.
Alexis’ previous experience includes coordinating a disaster relief trip in the wake of Hurricane Matthew for the Howard University Alternative Spring Break program, as well as education policy during a National Education Association internship. Originally from Durham, NC, Alexis graduated from Howard University with a Bachelor of Arts in political science focusing in Black politics and a minor in Spanish language & culture.
