Krithika SanthanamStaff Attorney
Krithika Santhanam is a staff attorney for Advancement Project National Office, working with our Justice Project and Ending the Schoolhouse-to-Jailhouse Track program. Her work addresses issues of policing, mass incarceration and ending the school to prison pipeline.
Krithika previously served as the Director of Youth Development at Legacy LA, a grassroots community-based nonprofit serving youth and families living in and around the Ramona Gardens Public Housing Development in East Los Angeles. While there, Krithika helped create the organization’s flagship youth leadership program which provides critical race theory workshops, civic engagement opportunities and community organizing training, aimed at catalyzing youth to become advocates for their community and developing their capacity to become agents of change. She also helped build and direct the organization’s academic support programming and community-based organizing campaigns tackling issues such as lack of access to healthy food, environmental racism, and the Ramona Gardens Gang Injunction.
She was also an associate at Arnold and Porter Kaye Scholer, LLP, where she maintained an active pro bono practice with a focus on educational equity and criminal justice issues.
Krithika earned a B.A. in Criminology, Law, and Society from the University of California, Irvine, and graduated magna cum laude from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. She is admitted to the California and Washington, DC bars.
