Following a listening session with U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights (“OCR”) staff on May 23, 2024 to discuss the urgent issue of public school closures, Advancement Project and Southern Poverty Law Center sent a letter on the urgent need for federal civil rights guidance on closing neighborhood public schools.
