Beyond 250: Another World is Possible

As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, we are told to celebrate a promise of democracy, freedom, and justice for all.  But for Black and other communities of color, that promise remains unfulfilled.

This country built its wealth and power on stolen land, enslaved labor, and the systemic exclusion of Black people, Indigenous communities, immigrants, and women. And yet, we are still here. Our people continue to organize and resist in the face of injustice.

For us, this anniversary is a moment of reckoning. We are ready to write the next chapter of this country’s story. Our vision is rooted in abolition, people power, and the hope of building a true multiracial democracy, where everyone can thrive. We know another world is possible.

Join us in shaping the next 250 years. We are anchoring this digital campaign in three main narrative frames: We Belong, We Build Power, We Believe That We Will Win.

Building a People-Powered Democracy

“Everything would be alright if everything were put back in the hands of the people, and we’re going to have to put it back in the hands of the people." - Fred Hampton

Take the Pledge

Join us in building another world, one beyond punishment and control, at the polls, in the streets, and in our communities.

We Belong

Our communities experience relentless attacks on citizenship and as well as constant discrimination based on identity. In the face of systemic exclusion, we must come together and build a democracy that truly belongs to all of us.

We Build Power

When people are free to organize, resist, and build structures that truly sustain our communities, we are living the truest expression of a free and safe democratic society.

We believe that we will win

The long arc toward a multiracial democracy is rooted in self-determination, local power, and building a world beyond punishment where everyone can thrive and speak out against injustice.

It’s Time to Build the Country We Were Promised

If the first 250 years have taught us anything, it is that the promise of this country that was defined by the founding white men was never designed to fully include all of us. So, the question is not how we restore that promise. It is: what we are willing to build instead?
