Advancement Project celebrates Juneteenth

June 19, 2025

Advancement Project Executive Director Judith Browne Dianis shared the following statement:

“At its heart, Juneteenth is a radical act of remembering our nation’s past and reimagining a future worth fighting for. Also known as Emancipation Day, Juneteenth is a celebration of Black freedom, resistance, joy and dreams. Honoring Juneteenth requires us to confront our history and make every effort to tear down the systems that continue to perpetuate racial injustice in our country.

“We urge our leaders and partners to reckon with the way our institutions, government, and policies continue to overlook the lives and dignity of Black communities across the U.S. We are stronger when we uplift each other in our efforts to create new systems that are rooted in equity and liberation.

“Juneteenth is a reminder that our power and possibilities are endless.”
