Temporary Restraining Order Granted in Miami Lawsuit for COVID-19 Protections

On Tuesday, April 7, 2020, Advancement Project National Office and its partners were granted a temporary restraining order in Miami requiring the Metro West Detention Center to follow the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) guidelines to protect the health of incarcerated people and prevent the spread of COVID-19.  Metro West is also required to provide Advancement Project and its partners with a list of all medically vulnerable people in the jail by April 9, 2020. Along with Civil Rights Corp, Dream Defenders, and GST LLP, Advancement Project continues to plan its fight for the release of everyone on that list in the upcoming days.
